Boxes from home

A few days ago I got my first package from home since before Christmas! Oh how exciting to have goodies from the US that I can't get here. I stop by my post box every few mornings on my way to work. I'm sure I looked the happiest and silliest site carrying a package, lunchbox and purse to work in the freezing cold. And oh the goodies! Double fun to unwrap them slowly through out the day. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what is in the box, rather that someone took the time to wrap it up with loving care to send it to you. Thanks mom, dad, Hugh, and Mertice!

Christmas mail!

What a wonderful surprise to come home and have so many cards from everyone! I still have a package to pickup tomorrow (today is a holiday so the post shop is not open) and I am excited to see what that is too. I have posed a few below, I also received some while in the states but I have left off ones with pictures of family and with peoples names on them to preserve their privacy. Thank you everyone!

Today I was going thru a brochure on Prohibited Items to mail in New Zealand and found the following very amusing. Not because they are prohibited but because there is a really good chance some one has tried to mail this and I keep getting hilarious images in my head as it goes wrong on the unfortunate post man.
-Air Bag (car)
-Animals (except correctly packaged bees, leeches, silkworms and harmless insects)
-Christmas Crackers {why specifically Christmas crackers?!?}
-Human Remains (including ashes)
-Paint (oil based) {so acrylic and tempera are fine?}
-Poisons (eg cyanide, lead, arsenic)
-Theatrical Flares
-Toys (containing batteries) {You are not cleared for this sector}
